Project Galleries

Rock Road™ is proud to have played a leading role in nearly all of the major heavy highway and road construction projects that have taken place in Rock County in recent years. If you’ve ever driven through the area then there’s a good chance that you’ve experienced our work firsthand!

USH-12

USH-12

Rock Road is currently working on the USH-12 project in Fort Atkinson, WI. This project began in March 2023, and is scheduled to be completed by November 2023. It involves the complete reconstruction of USH 12 South of Fort Atkinson, specifically from Buckingham Rd to CTH M. This is the second phase of construction, following our completion of the southern two miles of USH 12.

To minimize waste and ensure sustainability, the existing pavement has been recycled on-site and will continue to be used. The project will involve the utilization of 29,000 tons of hot mix asphalt as well as 162,000 tons of aggregate. About 35% of the base aggregate consists of crushed asphalt or crushed concrete. This approach eliminates the need for disposing of 2,500 truckloads of waste off-site and eliminates the need for an additional 2,500 truckloads to be imported from a quarry or pit.

As with most of our road construction projects, traffic flow is the main challenge. We have to ensure that local traffic has continued access to these roads. Our goal is to keep both the paving operations and local traffic moving efficiently, and most importantly, as safely as possible.
